Sheraton Chicago Northbrook Hotel

This was originally posted in 2016 on Yelp. I haven’t been back since. We stayed when we came to town for my high school reunion at Pinstripes across the parking lot. The location was prime, and the internet was the fastest I’d seen at a hotel in a long time. The lobby bar was nice, though drinks cost way more than the same ones at Pinstripes. Check-in took forever, the slowest I’d experienced anywhere on three continents that year. Soundproofing was basically nonexistent. We could hear doors in the hall, people walking, and even someone opening and closing the drapes in the next room. If I’d been there on a business trip with the same experience, my rating would’ve been quite a bit lower.

The room went uncleaned on both April 7 and April 8, during my stay from April 6 to April 9, 2026. The first time I assumed it was an oversight, called the desk, and housekeeping came by. The second time, the staff member on the phone had an attitude and said cleaning had to be requested the night before. I’ve never come across that policy in my travels, so I asked where it was written. I checked my reservation, the hotel website, the room materials, and online information, and couldn’t find it. When I called back, they transferred me to operations manager Joshua Daily. He interrupted me rudely and disrespectfully instead of calmly explaining things. In the end, he said someone would clean the room and suggested I’d “misunderstood.” My complaint is about both the two missed cleanings and the dismissive way it was handled. If guests need to request housekeeping, the policy should be clearly communicated. Otherwise, guests shouldn’t be treated as if they’re wrong to expect a standard hotel service. The way management responded made an already disappointing stay worse.

I had to leave my home because of an issue and spent six weeks at the Sheraton Chicago Northbrook Hotel. The staff took time to get to know me and my dog, and made us feel welcome every day. Everyone was kind, cheerful, and professional. I can’t say enough about how wonderful they were.

I expected a more upscale stay and was disappointed. There was no hand soap, and the bathroom had a distinct smell. I’d reserved a king bed but got two full beds instead. When I asked to switch, I was told all the king rooms were taken because my flight had been delayed and I arrived late.
