Independence Inn

Tyler and Sara were wonderful hosts, and they kept the rooms clean. The Jefferson, their restaurant, serves a fantastic breakfast. The inn itself has an antique look, with modern comforts like a mini fridge and other amenities. It's a cozy spot beside a lovely lake, and its central location makes it easy to head in different directions around New Hampshire, whether you're after cities, beaches, or mountains.

I've been to the Independence Inn twice, and both stays were wonderful. On my latest visit, I had breakfast at The Jefferson, the inn's restaurant. I loved the organic, locally sourced food, and the coffee was excellent. Sara and Tyler were so kind, upbeat, and welcoming when I met them. My room was cozy, quiet, and clean both times. On that last visit, the inn had lovely Christmas decorations, and the snow made everything feel even prettier and cozier. It's in a nice part of the state, a great place to relax and explore New Hampshire.

Sara and Tyler were so welcoming and accommodating, and The Jefferson had great food in a cozy atmosphere. The inn is beautiful, and its location works well if you want to get to different parts of NH. Manchester, Concord, Dover, and the rest are about 30-40 minutes away.

I stayed four weeks and got to visit nearly every part of NH. The inn sits halfway between the Seacoast and the state's central corridor, so it worked really well as a base for exploring. The rooms each have their own character, and the wifi was reliable. There's a swimming beach on Bow Lake, past the little market and sandwich and pizza shop down the street. The nearest small town and grocery store are only a few minutes away on hwy 4. For breakfast, a simple option is included in the shared kitchenette if you're in a hurry. The restaurant downstairs serves breakfast through lunch most of the week, and a few local regulars come in for things like the Bow Lake Burger or french toast with a hint of orange. It's a cute inn with lots of history and character. The friendly, hardworking innkeepers arrived early in 2025 and have become part of the local community. People I met there told stories about themselves or family working at the inn decades ago, and pointed out connections to things like the mural covering a whole wall in the restaurant area.
