Brooks Motel

I'd wanted to stay at this little motel in rural Kansas ever since I was a kid, and I finally made it happen. The staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. It definitely shows its age, but at $60 total, the stay was pretty decent.

PAM really made the stop for me. She was pleasant and friendly on the phone, then welcoming and helpful when I arrived. She had the kind of hospitality you'd expect at a higher-end hotel. The room had the basics: a microwave, fridge, and an okay bed, though that's subjective. Nothing fancy, but it was clean. Breakfast was limited to packaged Honey buns or muffins, plus Cheerios or Frosted Flakes and coffee. You could eat it in a room with two tables or take it back upstairs. Truck traffic made the room a little noisy, though it wasn't too bad. It's reasonably priced and adequate for a night, so I'd stop here again.

Pet friendly and a great price. The room was quiet and spacious. I skipped breakfast, so I can't speak to that, but if you need a night on Rt 36, this place will do.

We came in from out of town after our air conditioner broke, and this was a really good experience. The room was clean, smelled nice, and had cold air. They let us bring our dogs, too. I'd definitely recommend it.
