Residence Inn by Marriott Norwalk

The rooms and facilities were fine, and breakfast was as expected, but the room situation was poorly handled and seemed organized for the hotel's convenience rather than ours. We arrived with a group at 11:30 a.m. and stopped to ask about parking, which costs extra. At 3:11 p.m. I got an email saying my reserved room type wasn't available. When I checked in around 5:30, they asked to 'upgrade' me from two queens to a king with a rollaway. I said I'd rather have the room I booked, but they gave me the king and said the rollaway would be provided. After our event, we got back at 11:30 p.m. to find it outside my door. I had to wheel it in and set it up myself, then go to the desk for blankets. There are other places around here, and I'd suggest trying those first.

We stopped here at the last minute on the way to RI, and the room had lots of space. We had our dog with us; there's no dedicated dog walking area, but there is a park nearby. It's right next to the police department, so walking late at night or very early felt safe enough. The lobby bar looked fun, though we didn't get a chance to stop in. We'd stay again.

The breakfast room's toaster couldn't toast a bagel, and the pillows were so flat I had to check whether there was even one inside the case. We stayed two nights. On the first day I got back around 1:45 p.m. and the room hadn't been cleaned. A cleaning cart was in the hall when I left at 4:45, so I asked the desk to have it done. When we came back, nothing had changed: the towels were still on the floor as instructed, the bed was unmade, and the trash cans hadn't been emptied.

You can walk to the downtown sono train station and the mall from this convenient location. It's also a nice way to explore historic sono, from the switch tower to veterans park. Be sure to stop at Donovans for their amazing clam chowder.
