We'd been to Fred's for banquets before, but this was our first time dining in the restaurant. The food was great. My wife ordered chicken Cordon bleu, and I got the 12oz steak medium rare, just as requested. It was nice to have it cooked the way I ordered it. We started with salads and an appetizer, along with fresh, warm bread, tasty dipping oil, and a veggie plate. We were nearly full before the entrees came. Our waitress was super friendly, though she was an evil temptress with the dessert tray, bringing all the options out to tempt us. Nice touch, but we were stuffed and skipped dessert. If you're around Norwich and want a great meal with great service, Fred's Inn should be your destination. We didn't stay at the inn, so I can't say anything about the rooms.

I've tried Fred's three times, and the food was good only once. At best it's basic, and $85 for two takeout meals, just two entrees and no drinks, wasn't worth it. Calling it the "Most famous steakhouse in Chenango County" seems delusional. If this is the county's best, I'd drive out of chenango county to find a decent meal. The inside is seriously outdated and doesn't match the prices. The fries were way too peppery and salty; the chili was very sweet and tasted like it was based on BBQ sauce. I paid for loaded fries and didn't get them. They also charged the credit price when I paid cash, and the employee couldn't figure out how to adjust it or give the right change.

We gave the new owners a chance and went for Mother's Day brunch, but it was horrible. The food was cold and dried out, and the eggs didn't seem real. The bacon seemed like it had just come out of a fryer. One guy was trying to make waffles one at a time, prepare omelets, and slice meat. We were very disappointed and won't return.

It's a cool, nostalgic place, with clean rooms and friendly staff. The on-site restaurant is a quick walk away and has plenty of menu choices, good prices, and delicious food. It's pet friendly too. Highly recommend.

The rooms were infested with ants, and we never got a refund after checking out early. The place feels shady, with random people able to open your room using keys for other rooms. It happened to one of my crew members. I'll try to contact the owner to get my refund.
