Courtyard Cincinnati Midtown/Rookwood

The rooms are very clean and well kept, but they’re cold. Ours was on the second floor and never got above 67. When I asked the front desk attendant, he got an attitude and said it was because the door kept opening. I asked how that affected the second floor. The lobby was 40 degrees. The Marriott residence next door was warm and had free breakfast, so skip this hotel.

I’ve come to town for work often and stayed here many times over the past few years. Last fall, I booked several stays across a 10 month period, then cancelled them because of the hotel’s overall condition. I cancelled through the Marriott Bonvoy website. All but one reservation showed as cancelled, but one slipped through. The site doesn’t let you review past cancellations, only future ones. They charged me anyway and refuse to resolve it. There are plenty of other choices in the area or an exit or two down the road. The price and service aren’t worth it. Try somewhere else.

After a four-hour drive, the manager made check-in incredibly difficult for my Sister’s 50th Birthday. She had no customer service skills and showed no compassion. She said we couldn’t stay at her hotel or the one across the street because I’d used the wrong code when booking. I didn’t understand the issue, since I’ve always used that code. While we were trying to work out what to do, with it being the weekend and rooms booked, she told me I could go stay at the fair field. When I asked to speak with the manager above her, she basically said no, he’d tell me the same thing. She also took it upon herself to cancel my reservation. It was embarrassing and made us feel like we didn’t belong there. I didn’t want my Sister’s 50th birthday to involve driving around a town we didn’t know, looking for somewhere to stay. As a manager, she could have handled it better.

The place was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Valet is $15, while parking your own car in the garage costs $10, so valet is a plus in bad weather. There’s a coffee pot in each room with decent single-serve pods, but no microwave, so we had to go to the lobby to make popcorn. The website doesn’t mention breakfast, which is fine, but be ready to pay a lot if you eat there, a muffin is $4.50. It’s next to 71, so definitely not quiet.
