FairBridge Inn Express Nyack

The man at the front desk was very nice. That was about the only good thing. We stayed over the weekend with my husband, our toddler, and my mom, and the hotel's photos don't reflect what it looks like now. It was still the cheapest place around, but not worth what we paid. Our first room reeked of cigars, despite this being a nonsmoking hotel. My husband has severe asthma, and I wasn't going to expose him, our 4-year-old, or my mom to that, so we asked to switch. The second room smelled musty, but it was an improvement. There was hair on the bedspread and a hole in a towel. The coffee maker was caked with dirt and mildew. The bathroom door looked awful and wouldn't lock, and the fridge rattled all night. The beds were tiny and uncomfortable, and I woke up with neck and back pain. Our toddler kept having coughing fits during the night. She didn't cough at all on our first night back home, so I wonder if something in that room was making her sick. We didn't complain to the desk because there was never anyone there whenever we passed it.

The price was fair, parking was spacious, and the guy checking people in was really sweet. It was a busy hour with a line, but he was kind to everyone. The outside had me thinking the place might be run-down, but the rooms and interior are beautiful. I'm glad I stayed, and I'll use this hotel whenever I travel to Nyack.

Breakfast came with the room: waffles you make yourself, two cold cereals, Yoplait yogurt, a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich, juice, and coffee. No eggs or sausage, though. The lobby is tiny, and the building used to be a Super 8 motel. It was the cheapest hotel I found nearby and was fine overall. The shower worked well, and the room had a fridge. In room 112 the bathroom faucet barely flowed, and there isn't much counter space. Another reviewer mentioned the faucet, so maybe it's an issue in every room. The bed wasn't very soft but was okay, and the pillows were good.

They asked for a $100 deposit on top of the price for one night, which is ridiculous for a place like this. I'd stay at the Westgate Inn down the street instead. It costs less, has no deposit, and is nicer and cleaner. Don't go to the fair bridge Inn. I'd rate it negative zero out of 10.
