The Inn at Shasta Lake

The shared spaces are a real bonus: a living room, dining area, and deck with big windows facing the ocean on three sides, shared by just a small number of guests. The room seemed small at first, but there’s more to enjoy beyond it. It had a microwave, fridge, and plenty of electrical and USB outlets. The bathroom was very spacious, with a lovely clawfoot tub, a shower big enough for a couple, and an extra heating vent for when you step out. Breakfast was generous and delivered right to the room. When I asked for coffee, black tea, and peppermint tea because of the rain and planned to work in my room, they brought a whole pot of coffee and two kettles of hot water. Service was excellent, and the location is wonderful, surrounded by mountains.

We needed to commute to Redding every day, so this location worked out perfectly for our short trip. We stayed in the Jack Rabbit room for a few days and found the bed very comfortable. The fireplace was turned off because of local regulations, but we hadn’t picked this place for the fireplace, so it wasn’t a big deal.

The stars were spectacular from the hotel, and sitting on the porch with my tea to watch them was my favorite part of the stay. My partner and I were in the "Acorn" cabin, which was so lovely, tidy, and cozy. Cleanliness matters a lot to me, especially with a hot tub in the room, since I sometimes worry about how well those are maintained. It wasn’t a problem here. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smelled great and seemed good quality, and the lobby had little extras like toothbrushes with toothpaste and shavers. Breakfast was delicious and arrived within the time the staff had given us. I really enjoyed staying here and will very likely come back.

The bathtub was a dream, and the place was clean and spacious. Breakfast is brought to your room in the morning. I’ve stayed at lots of small hotels along the 5, and this is the best one by far. There was some freeway and train noise, but it didn’t bother me. It’s also only 15 minutes from some great hiking. Children under ten need permission to stay.
