Midway Inn & Suites

For what I paid, it did what I needed. It isn't a 5-star hotel, though. Expecting the perks of Qatar Airways when you've bought a flight with American Airlines is a recipe for disappointment.

I loved the room I got for four hours of me time. The layout made it feel like my own apartment. The check-in, though, was a toss-up. The woman at the front desk didn't look at me while I talked, just nodded and said yes, and she didn't seem interested when I explained I could use my credit card to pay for the whole night. She kept telling me to repeat the same transaction I'd just tried, then said it had been declined. At 1:15 a.m. I had to leave the room with nowhere to get into my house. I wasn't happy with how the process went or how she treated me. I like chatting with people when I get a motel room, and I felt like a customer they didn't want to welcome or talk to.

The breakfast was just a Danish from a vending machine at the front desk, and the coffee machine in the office was broken. The first room had peeling paint and plaster, plus mold on the bathroom walls. The second room was barely livable. This was the worst place I've stayed. Stay away.

My wife and I wanted a quiet night away, but we left feeling this place had neither honesty nor integrity. I left behind a chain that was a gift from my wife, something I never take off except that time. We knew we'd forgotten it, but they seemed to think we wouldn't notice. I don't recommend staying here. The rooms are falling apart, with peeling paint and a terrible smell. They don't even change the toiletries. I can only imagine what else they leave unchanged.
