The apartment was clean and easy to book, and its Oak Park location was convenient. It’s on the second floor, with the owners living downstairs. We missed them because they were out of town, but I’d still recommend the rental to friends and family.

We recently held a fundraiser dinner and magic show with Kettil, hosted by the International Women’s organization of Chicago. People had a great time, and the event went really well in the distinctive historic setting. I’d recommend the venue for special occasions.

The hosts, Kettil and Caroline, were warm and helpful, and they know the neighborhood well. There was even a bit of science and magic when we met them. Our spacious loft had a kitchenette, a dining area, and a gorgeous bathroom. It worked for kids, with a crib in the bedroom and two twin beds in the main space that adults could use too. The charming area has cute shops and international restaurants just a short walk away, and I finally got the empanadas I’d been craving. Hemingway’s birthplace is two doors down, Frank Lloyd Wright’s studio is around the corner, and there’s a garage for the car. My husband and I stayed a few weeks ago in this historic Oak Park home and found the space comfortable.

Our temporary home was spacious, clean, and well equipped, and parking was no problem. The host was friendly and ready to help with any questions. It’s a great base for a family, including three generations, with easy access to Chicago or to a lovely, quiet garden suburb. I can’t think of any disadvantages.

The owner was so friendly, and even put on a magic show for the kids. That made our three days in Oak Park extra special. We stayed in a beautifully maintained, character-filled 1895 Victorian home built by a member of Ernest Hemingway’s family. Everything in historic Oak Park was a short walk away. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and would highly recommend it.
