Harvey House Bed & Breakfast

Beth, the proprietor, felt more like a family friend. She held my bags, suggested places to eat, and was simply a lovely host. Harvey House Inn made my last-minute work trip to Oak Park easy. I really appreciated the true bed and breakfast experience as a change from the usual traveler hotel. Highly recommend.

The spa was deeply relaxing, and I came away feeling refreshed and inspired. The facilities were pristine, and the place offered comfort, beauty, and world-class service. One of the finest hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

We had the Garden room, where the tub was a lovely way for two people to unwind. The fireplace kept the room warm and made for a relaxing evening. The bed was incredible, with fluffy pillows and such soft sheets that we didn’t want to get up. Dimming lights and a peaceful atmosphere made it feel romantic. There’s a train passing often, but it didn’t bother us, and that’s to be expected on the outskirts of the city. We walked about seven minutes to dinner. We stayed one night at Harvey House and watched the 1950’s movie it’s named for on DVD in the room. It was so good and simple, with a great story. The owner clearly loves what she does. Even with the new BnB regulations since Covid, she’s managed to offer lovely company, a healthy breakfast selection, and a quiet space with calming music. I’d highly recommend this local gem and supporting this kind woman.

From the cozy room and breakfast to the host and location, we enjoyed every part of our stay. The place is thoughtfully put together and cared for. No complaints at all, and we’d love to return.
