Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Oakbrook Terrace

The room was clean, and the Hilton staff were great. But we won’t get the breakfast package again. The juice glasses were tiny, English muffins hard, and the bagels seemed at least three days old. The vendor charged extra for fresh eggs or made-to-order omelettes on top of the $15 already added to the room. We tried it once, ordered two plates of eggs, got three, and were charged three extra times. This used to be our go-to place, but I’m not so sure anymore.

I’m a Hilton Diamond member, and I was very disappointed with front desk agents Hilton and Vasila. They saw someone come in for breakfast and assumed he wasn’t staying there. When he wouldn’t give them his room number, since he didn’t have to, they nearly snatched the plate from his hands. They escalated the situation way too far. Seriously, Hilton, over food? Someone needs to speak to them. I will not stay with Hilton again!

The location was very nice, and it was easy to drive here from Southern IL to Chicago. The staff were friendly, and the room was very clean. At check-in, we were told breakfast ran from 6 to 10, but nobody mentioned that it was a separate package. Priceline hadn’t made that clear either. The buffet with cereal costs $17 per person, and it would’ve been good to know before we got there. That’s why I rated service three stars.

The bed was really comfortable, and otherwise I enjoyed my stay. But parking costs $8 a night, and breakfast is an extra $17 for the buffet, which doesn’t include pancakes or waffles. You can order those from the menu for about the same price as the buffet. I thought breakfast was included. You only get clean linen after the fourth night. Room service just makes the bed and brings clean towels. Our housekeeper, Reyna, made the bed with the crumbs still in it, didn’t shake out the sheets, and didn’t wipe the bathroom surfaces.
