Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn

The property is huge, with buildings spread around, and the lobby looked great with all the Xmas decor. I really liked the free breakfast, and it seems like a good pick for kids. If you enjoy a warm, cozy cabin feel, this place has it. The rooms are old-fashioned, and it was neat to see a larger room with 3 beds.

What stood out most was how lovely everyone was, both the hotel staff and the local people we met in Oakhurst. The two young men at the desk were warm, kind, and accommodating. They were patient when I had a card issue after check-in, and later, when my husband lost our room key after using the pool, they drove him back up the hill in a golf cart because he was a little wet and the front office is outside. The rooms feel like little chalets, with lots of space and good upkeep. Ground-floor rooms have cute patios and greenery. Breakfast is free and served buffet style, with everything laid out nicely. The on-site restaurant was good too, with fast service, decent food, and attentive staff. My one complaint was the bed, which was quite hard to sleep on. Still, I'd be back in a heartbeat. Thankyou!

We booked here because of the good reviews and because it was dog friendly, but my husband and I were very disappointed. The room felt outdated and smelled strange when we walked in. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but then after our first night, the room didn't look cleaned when we returned from our hike. Only the trash had been taken out, and there were 2 dirty towels in the bathroom. One was so dirty it should have been obvious. I called the front desk, and the woman sounded nonchalant. She didn't apologize, just said she'd tell housekeeping and laundry. When I mentioned the room hadn't been cleaned, she said they don't make the beds if there are personal items on them, but there weren't any. I felt like she didn't care what I was saying or how I felt, and she only made excuses. I couldn't post a picture of the towels, but I don't recommend this place.

We'd stay here again. The restaurant breakfast was enjoyable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our family room worked well, with a separate bedroom and two beds in the main area. The hotel is older but updated and clean. For Yosemite, it's about 30 minutes from Mariposa Grove, but much farther from Yosemite Valley. It took us about an hour and a half to reach tunnel view.
