Sierra Sky Ranch, an Ascend Hotel Collection

We picked Sierra Sky Ranch as a relaxing place to stop before or after Yosemite, and the location worked really well. The fresh, crisp air was such a change from the city, and we enjoyed seeing birds outside our window, sometimes even tapping on it. It startled us at first, but became a fun part of being surrounded by the Sierra scenery. The room had a lovely view, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and quick with recommendations. We had a wonderful stay and would return. I’d rate it 9/10.

Marlo and Derrick were fantastic hosts, and the staff were responsive and easy to engage with. The place has a distinctive rustic feel while still being up to date. It’s only a few miles from the tourist spot, close enough to visit but far enough to feel tucked away. The facilities were very clean and well appointed, with comfortable bedding. Thanks for having us!

Coming back each evening for the campfire and S'mores with the other guests was a highlight. The front desk team welcomed us warmly, showed us to our room, and explained breakfast and morning coffee. The continental breakfast had a nice mix of fruit, protein, and carbs, and the coffee was actually good, a great start before hiking. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the South gate of Yosemite. The rooms are on the small, cozy side, but clean, comfortable, inviting, and had what we needed. It’s a quaint, rustic boutique hotel with lovely amenities. The historic pieces in the lobby and crackling fireplace made it a lovely spot to curl up with a book and a glass of wine. The only hard part was leaving to fly home. It feels like a special little secret, and I can’t wait to come back.

The view at night was incredible, with a clear sky full of stars, and looking out at the wildlife during the day was peaceful too. Our room was cozy, just right for relaxing and unwinding. The property felt warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Derek was generous and helpful while checking us in, and Marlo always greeted us with a big smile. Thanks to everyone at Sierra Sky Ranch for making the visit so special. We can’t wait to return!
