Holiday Inn Express Oakwood Village

The staff have always been friendly and as helpful as they can be during my work trips, but I’ve decided to find somewhere else to stay. The hard floors are always dirty and need a proper mop or a wet Swiffer. I also found mold in the bathtub and on the bathroom walls, so I had to ask for another room. The people staying there can be the hardest part, especially on weekends. It turns into a party hotel, with doors propped open, music blaring, weed smell everywhere, and people yelling and running through the halls. It’s a 2 star hotel, so I wasn’t surprised by everything I saw, and I’ve stayed there a few times. Still, I’m done with it.

I needed somewhere for one night in December last year while on business in the greater Cleveland area, and the price seemed reasonable. I did manage to get some sleep, but the room was in rough shape: holes in the walls and human hair on the floor. The whole room and hallway also reeked, like weed smoke mixed with mildew. I won’t stay here again.

The room itself was clean, and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly too. It’s close to the casino and works if you’re after a budget hotel. The holes in the walls and the general lack of cleanliness outside the room and in the hallways put me off, though. We had a smoking room. Thanks for the comfortable bed and clean room, but we won’t be back.

The pool had algae in it all weekend, so we couldn’t use it. Breakfast was disappointing too, with hot food and plates rarely available when we needed them. In our supposedly handicapped-accessible room, shower water ran right onto the bathroom floor, so we had to watch our step afterward. The vinyl plank floor looked like it should be easy to clean, but there was a thick layer of dust under the bed and chair. The employees barely spoke any English and often had headphones in, so we had to repeat ourselves once or twice to be heard. This was by far my most disappointing hotel stay.
