Fish Tales Boardwalk Inn

We came down on a whim for a couple of days. I didn’t know Ocean City, but the place was right on the boardwalk and had decent reviews. It was quiet, maybe one of my quietest hotel stays, and the dated room was clean and fully functional. Just a heads-up, there’s no coffee maker, microwave, or hair dryer, so we had to walk out for morning coffee.

The location is perfect. From the end of the hotel you’re right on the boardwalk, and just a few more steps take you to the beach. The room worked well for three adults. We didn’t request daily service, though I saw the cleaning staff working hard.

It’s close to everything and has an amazing view. The staff were great, attentive without being pushy or in the way, and the place was very accommodating and kid-friendly. I travel a lot, and more than one part of this stay impressed me. I loved it and can’t wait to come back.

I came back to this motel by accident, six years after telling myself I wouldn’t return. They’d changed the name from Ocean Mecca to Fish tales Boardwalk Inn and painted the place. I did love the colorful paintings, but everything else seemed the same: no fridge, microwave, coffee maker, or hair dryer. The parking lot is tiny and can’t fit all the guests, so you may have to use the lot about a block away. Fingers crossed I don’t come back again 😁.
