Howard Johnson by Wyndham Ocean City Oceanfront

The staff made this stay especially pleasant. The front desk was patient, courteous, and ready for questions, housekeeping kept the rooms clean and supplied, and maintenance took good care of the property inside and out. The cafe had simple, good beach food, the bar was well stocked, and prices were affordable. It's an older property, but the location is great for an ocean resort town and the rate was fair. There isn't a refresh that could make it outstanding, which is why I'd give it four stars rather than five. Still, it's nicely cared for and staffed, and we'll certainly come back.

We stayed Aug29-Sept1 in an Oceanfront balcony room. The beds were comfortable and clean, but the room itself was dirty enough that I swept, mopped, and wiped things down before settling in. The hotel apologized and gave us a food voucher and free Thrashers fries, which I appreciated. I used the voucher at the restaurant by the pool. While waiting, I saw open drink mixers and uncovered lemons and limes, and the counters looked dingy. We had quesadillas, chicken strips, a hamburger, and Caesar salad. The quesadilla wasn't great, though I ate one, and the chicken strips were fine. A few hours later I had the salad, found a dead fly in it, and soon my stomach started hurting. Staff apologized and said the manager would contact me, but no one did. The smoking rule was frustrating. A few of us paid for a balcony room because we smoke, but smoking and vaping aren't allowed on the balcony, so I had to keep going down to my car or outside. I would've liked to watch the ocean while smoking and relaxing. There was only one raggedy, slow elevator, so we kept taking the stairs. We won't stay here again.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the beach view from the balcony was awesome. The room was cute, and the pool was nice, though its towels were tiny. The beds were hard, squeaky, and small for doubles. The bathroom was cramped, the shower temperature kept shifting from cold to warm and back, and the floor felt soft and like it was sinking near the drain. We could hear people upstairs banging and stomping. 🤩

We picked this place for the Country Calling Music Festival and the distance to the festival grounds worked out perfectly. The front desk staff were so kind, everything was kept clean, and there was a great breakfast spot right downstairs. 10/10, I'd recommend it!
