South Beach Apartment

We've stayed here a couple of times and found it pretty clean, with plenty of room for our family of five. The amenities are useful: washer and dryer, dishwasher, full-size fridge, and stove and oven. Our washer leaked when running, which was a hassle, but everything else was fine. It's around two blocks from the boardwalk and beach, and a good location for watching cars go by. The price could be more competitive, since I like to feel I'm getting a good deal. I also wish they provided a few more basic cleaning supplies, even sample sizes of laundry detergent, soap, or dishwasher pods like other places we've stayed. Bring or buy those while you're there. One more thing: although they advertise smart TVs, they're no use because the Wi-Fi isn't strong enough. I'm glad I downloaded some things for the kids to watch on their tablet beforehand.

The location was the one thing I loved, close to the beach and boardwalk, and that’s why I gave it two stars. We booked the motel but were moved to South beach apartments, Madison beaches other property across the road. The photos looked nice, but the apartment smelled musty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I had to wipe the kitchen counters and the handprint on the door, sweep the floors, and wash the cups, dishes, and silverware. The bedroom carpets were disgusting, the walls had greasy marks, and there was food-like stuff on the back of the front door. The furniture was old and dirty, and I sprayed Lysol everywhere. Nobody wanted to walk around without shoes on. The freezer door was dented and sticky, and the washer and dryer were so loud we didn’t want to use them. There were flying ants all over the front door, the beach towels we hung outside, and other things out there. The light by the apartment entrance couldn’t be turned off. The beds were awful, so I was glad I brought sheets and blankets from home. When the toilet clogged, there wasn’t a plunger, and it took over an hour for someone to come help. They said there’s no daily maid service, but the place should at least be cleaned before guests arrive. The front desk person was okay. The power went out for about 45 minutes, which wasn’t their fault, but I’m not sure there was any cleaning or maintenance staff. We won’t be staying here again.

The fridge wasn’t working right, but the staff handled it quickly. They confirmed the appliance was faulty, brought us a mini fridge to use, then had a new refrigerator installed within a few hours. Really attentive service, and we’d definitely come back. The apartment had a few unrepaired damages when we arrived, though none kept us from staying or enjoying ourselves. Nice place for a decent price.

We came for Labor Day and found it a nice place overall. The apartment was reasonably clean, although the silverware needed washing, and the staff were really nice. The pool was a bit farther away than I’d have liked. Parking is what it is, the lot’s small. Depending on the off-season prices, we’d stay again.
