Surf Villa Hotel

The one good thing was being a block from the beach. The room wasn’t modern, and for what it was, it felt very expensive. I’m 5'1" and 126 pounds and could barely move around in the shower. The small back parking lot filled up, and the extra parking was blocks away. The manager was extremely rude and wouldn’t give me a receipt until I argued with him for 18 minutes. He also wouldn’t let my two adult children, a man and a woman, come up to the room to change after the beach, even though they had a 2 1/2 hour drive ahead. I’ll never return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The owner made us feel at home, and was kind and accommodating. The place is right next to the beach and boardwalk, and the prices are the best around here. My friends and I found it to be more than just a place to stay. It had that quiet seaside feel, with waves murmuring in the morning, and a kind of quiet luxury. The service was absolutely fantastic.

The place really wasn’t as bad as some people made it sound. The rooms were a little worn, but clean, and the bathroom was normal sized. I had a good experience overall. Parking in the back costs $15, which didn’t bother me much since the room wasn’t too expensive. Honestly, you have to pay for parking everywhere in Ocean City, often by the hour. Access could be an issue for disabled guests: you have to climb steps to reach the main hotel, and the rooms are small with narrow paths and small bathrooms. I didn’t see the whole property, though.

We paid less than $800 for six nights, which is hard to beat in Ocean City. The owner was extremely kind and accommodating, and the location is amazing. It was also surprisingly clean. The rooms are quite small and the showers are tight, the TV was difficult to use, and the AC wasn’t great. Still, for a budget stay, I highly recommend it.
