The Colony Apartments

For $89 a night during Passover week, this apartment worked well for my family of six. We liked the affordability, spectacular view, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room, and balcony. It was clean, matched the green room shown in the ads, and had friendly, dependable staff. There were pots and pans, nothing special, but I can’t complain at that price. No Wi-Fi password was left, though I assume there was one since a locked guest network showed up. The owners have several buildings, so they come back over when you check in or call for linens. They explain that ahead of time, and the wait is under ten minutes. We were there for the beach and everything Ocean City has to offer, so the amenities were enough. The pier and boardwalk are easy to reach, and the entrance and apartments have locked doors and security cameras. The beach is steps away. You can watch dolphins around 8:30 in the morning, gulls, people on the boardwalk, and the nightlife from the balcony. There’s free entertainment just watching the beach and boardwalk, and talking with folks on the balcony at night. I’d happily do it again.

We stayed September 5, 2022, and the room was full of bugs. It was overpriced and not clean enough, and the beds were really uncomfortable. We were the only guests but still got charged $105 for parking. My girlfriend ended up covered in bug bites. For five nights, they left just one roll of toilet paper. The view was great, but it didn’t make up for the rest.

The apartment was modern and beautiful, with large bedrooms, a stove, refrigerator, and dining area. We loved the view of the boardwalk, beach, and ocean from the balcony. The owners were kind and respectful. It’s affordable for a family on a tight vacation budget, and we plan to return here every year.

We wanted a fun family vacation somewhere nice, but the first room was disgusting and nothing worked: the fridge, TV, sliding door, or shower handle. There were flies everywhere, including dead ones on the walls. After several calls to management, we finally got moved to a somewhat decent room, and they gave us a fly swatter, thank goodness. There are no local TV channels, so you can’t watch the news. The free Wi-Fi is useless unless you sit outside the back door. Parking is such a tight squeeze that you may not be able to get your car back into the spot if you take it out. The place was nothing like the descriptions online. I was very disappointed, and the stay ruined my whole vacation. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
