We keep coming back to Thunder Island Condos because it feels tucked away and peaceful, but it's still close to the boardwalk, restaurants, and just about everything else. The year-round residents have been really friendly, and we’ve enjoyed chatting with them by the pool and out on the pier docks overlooking the bay. Boars can park there too for a fee if you're staying as a guest. The bay is busy with people jet skiing, fishing, crabbing, parasailing, and paddling around in stand-up boards and small canoe-type boats. There’s also a very large circular pool right by the water, with bay views while you swim. It’s for Thunder Island guests only, and you need a pin code to get through the digital lock. The four buildings, A through D, face different directions. Building A has the best unobstructed views right over the bay, in my opinion. Building B faces the south end of Ocean City, toward the rides and boardwalk/pier, and from some condos you can see the Ferris wheels lit up at night. I’ve stayed twice so far in building A, floor 5, condo #28, and it’s still my favorite. The balcony view of the bay and sunsets is outstanding, and it’s so quiet and peaceful. The two-bedroom condos are roomy, with two full bathrooms, a good-sized living room, a fully stocked kitchen, and space for a big dining table. The balconies are huge too. Ours had a table and chairs for four, another little two-chair set, and six more good-sized outdoor beach-style chairs, with room to walk around. A couple of things to keep in mind: don’t hang towels or swimsuits over the balcony railing. They can blow away, and the condo association and locals really dislike it. We had a washer and dryer in our unit, so it wasn’t an issue for us. Please treat the rental like someone else’s home, because it is. Parking by the convention center is limited to Thunder Island residents and guests with a visible parking pass on the dashboard, or you’ll be towed. Paid street parking is available too. I just love this place, and would happily stay here again or buy a unit. You could also rent one out to help pay the mortgage.
