We had a really nice time. The place is older, but our room was clean and the bed was good. Once we took off the top blanket, the bedding underneath was really nice too. The staff were lovely and went above and beyond when our key got stuck in the door, probably from all the salty air. They're also extremely welcoming to pets.
This was probably the dirtiest, grossest motel I've ever had the displeasure of staying in. I wasn't expecting luxury when I booked, but I did expect a clean room, and The Beach Walk Inn fell short. It smelled moldy, and when I pulled back the bedding there was an old, dried french fry in the bed. The replacement clean bedding had hair on it too. I couldn't stand the smell of the blankets, so I used one from my trunk. The Wifi barely connected on our phones or tablets, and the signal was too weak to do anything with. We were charged $20.00 per pet for our two tiny dogs, though they caused no damage. After such a bad stay, I still haven't been able to reach the owner Kurt to ask if he'd offer any compensation or return one of the $20.00 dog deposits. I'd say spend a few dollars more for a reputable motel. Don't stay here.
We left within an hour and found another place to stay. The room smelled bad as soon as we walked in, and the bedding looked, smelled, and felt dirty. There were no window screens, dogs barked constantly, and some guests seemed to live there, grilling and partying in the parking lot. The place felt unsafe and was just horrible and gross. I asked for a full or even partial refund, but was immediately denied. They also wouldn't give me the on-site management supervisor's contact information. I felt like I needed a shower just from being there.
The place was dirty and way overpriced for such a poorly maintained apartment. There was dog urine on everything, and the dish sponge was worn out and moldy. They ran out of paper towels the first night and left us only two garbage bags. We found hair in the beds, which were incredibly hard and uncomfortable, with flat pillows. There wasn't even an outlet in the bathroom, so I had to dry and flat iron my hair in the bedroom without a mirror. Ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The room was very clean, accepted big dogs, and didn't smell like previous animals had stayed there, which I appreciated. It's outdated and could use remodeling, but it was okay. We had to figure out on our own that the TV needed to be set to channel 04. On the second day, high winds knocked the basketball hoop into the parking lot and broke the flagpole. Thankfully no cars were damaged, mostly because a lot of people had left earlier that morning. The room had baseboard heating. My main reason for giving it three stars is that there was no air conditioning, and the website and reviews hadn't made that clear. The room was miserable because only one window opened and it had no screen, and we couldn't leave the door open because of our dog. Other pet friendly hotels cost a bit more but have nicer rooms and AC, and we'd have picked one if we'd known. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're on a tight budget and visiting in spring or early fall with a big dog. We stayed August 28-30, 2015.
