Comfort Suites Oceanside Camp Pendleton Area

I was there for three days and paid $500.00. I'm a diamond member with choice hotels, so I was shocked by how this went. At check-in I asked for the room to be cleaned the night before, as guests were asked to do, but housekeeping never came. I asked again the next day. Someone knocked at 9am while I was still in bed, and I said I'd get ready and leave so they could return at 10am. I was gone all day, but the room still wasn't cleaned. It was late when I asked why it hadn't been done. The supervisor didn't seem apologetic, came in to clean himself, and picked things up off the floor and threw them away. I also asked for the sheets to be changed because I'd had a small food spill on them. I didn't spill anything on purpose, and I had asked for help with it more than once. I don't know exactly what the mark was, maybe some yogurt without food coloring, or something else that spilled. I finally checked out around 9pm that night rather than spend another night in a room where, as the supervisor put it, they were "so busy, unable to clean." After I left, they kept my deposit, saying I had stained the top sheet. They never called to tell me they'd taken it. It feels like I was charged for them cleaning the room after I left, instead of getting the housekeeping I had asked for several times. My family won't be back. This wasn't kid friendly, and they kept my deposit.

The room smelled like it had been cleaned with cow manure, and the AC didn't work. Getting in was a mess too. The clerk told me to park at the back near my room, but the key wouldn't open that door, so after unloading I had to walk back to the front and wait to speak with her. She then told me, “that door doesn’t work.” My stay got off to a bad start. I'll never stay here again, and this isn't the first time I've had problems at a comfort Inn.

It's been two weeks, and I still haven't gotten my $100 deposit back. When I called a few days after our one-night stay, a staff member said there was nothing wrong with the room when we left. I called again recently and was told I need to speak to the general manager. Just give me my $100.

The area around the hotel felt a bit sketchy, but for a one-night stay it worked out pretty well. We had a nice room with two queen beds and a sofa bed, and the bathroom sink had lots of counter space. The shower was the main letdown, it wasn't very nice and the water pressure was weak.
