avid hotel Odessa Northwest by IHG

My latest stay was wonderful, and the new hot breakfast spread is a welcome change from the old grab-and-go setup. They're still ironing out a few things, but the staff and new managers Lexy and Tomi really care about the place. That feels like a big improvement from the previous management. The hotel has had some ups and downs since the lightning strike, but I keep coming back and look forward to seeing what improves next. Thanks, Avid Odessa!

I still need my receipt for a work voucher, and getting it has been a mess. At checkout the desk couldn't print it, so they said they'd email it. What came instead was a link to an app. After going through the setup, the app told me I had to check out in person, but I'd already left the day before. I called the front desk six times and nobody answered. Reservations eventually got a person on the line, but they couldn't reach the desk either. When did hotels stop having someone at the front desk? The room felt dirty, and the blackout curtain was broken and hanging from the ceiling, so light poured in all night.

The beds are decent and the showers have good pressure. Staff are usually friendly, check-in is quick, and the price seems fair if you aren't looking for amenities you won't use. The rooms are small, clean, and kind of modern. It all feels built for sleeping and moving on, more practical than cozy. Noise depends on who's next door. Breakfast is basic grab-and-go stuff like yogurt cups and packaged muffins. The coffee tastes like it gave up emotionally around 2012. Avid is a no-frills place to get in, sleep, and leave. It isn't fancy or charming, but it works.

I stay at a different hotel property almost every day, and this team really stands out. Everyone works hard to look after guests and deal with problems. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues while I was there, and the staff already knew about them and were working on them. I accidentally went to the other nearby Avid first. They're nice over there, but the team at this one on Headlee Street is awesome.
