Quality Inn & Suites Ogallala

The nature park nearby was a big plus for me and my pup, though there were a couple of land mines on the trail. Please don't be that person. We booked a night because a cold snap caught us while we were living in our van and traveling cross country. This place is very close to the highway, especially handy if you're heading west, and at $71 it felt like good value. The front desk was helpful and friendly, and I liked that the first-floor doors opened right outside near our vehicle, even if the walk to breakfast was chilly. Our room was clean, with crisp white sheets and no odd smell in the pup room. It warmed up fast, though it was darker than I prefer. The water pressure was fine, but the water seemed very hard. I noticed a slight ring in the toilet and could feel it in my hair after showering. The TV guide didn't match the channels very well, so we just flipped around. A printed guide would be better. The waffles were delicious. I'm a beginner, so I stuck with a plain one, but I saw a man mix a little PB into the batter and add sausage chunks, and his came out perfect. The eggs looked good but tasted a little strange to me, probably from a carton, and the sausage was soggy. There were sugary cereals, yogurt and oatmeal, plus apples and oranges. Coffee was good, and I liked trying the flavored half and halfs, which I rarely get.

Housekeeping were friendly, respectful, and happy to help, and the prices seemed great for what the place offers. We got a ground-floor room with an outside door and parking right there, which was especially handy for anyone who vapes or smokes. The room had a microwave, small fridge, and Keurig-type coffee maker. Heat and AC worked well, the bed had lots of pillows and was comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water. The rooms were clean enough. There are outdoor pools and hot tubs in the courtyard, though we don't use public ones. I also noticed a small fitness room and what looked like a game or rec room. Breakfast is modest but adequate, served from 6 to 9 a.m. There is room for improvement, but I'd definitely stay again.

I stopped here on the way to the mountains in Colorado and found it just right for getting some sleep. My room had recently been redone and looked very nice, and the little hotel was very clean. The price seemed almost too good to be true, especially with the traditional continental breakfast included.

The room was good and check-in went great. There's a small bar and grill on site. Breakfast looked like a nice spread, though I only had coffee.
