MainStay Suites Watford City - Event Center

I've had no internet since checking in five nights ago. The electrical setup in my room is odd too: the bathroom's main light and fan, plus the light by the door, only work when the main switch above the desk is on. That desk light is really bright, and I'd rather use the lamp, but then those other lights won't work. My room also sometimes gets a strong cigarette smell, like it's drifting in from somewhere. I can use my phone hotspot for emails, but the missing Wi-Fi is pretty frustrating. I'd gladly give up breakfast for working internet.

Annie is what holds this OSB together. She works harder than most construction people. The place is great despite the heavy wear. Well played, mainstay.

This is my second stay, usually for two weeks at a time, and cleaning has been far too infrequent both times. During this visit I was there six days, asked twice for a room freshen-up, and they only came after the sixth day. The elevator has also been out for over a week. One employee said it might be a month; when I asked three managers, I got a runaround about needing three bids and company policy, though they said it was being handled. It's had problems since at least the first week of September, so I don't think they're on it. They should have an elevator service company under contract to deal with these issues promptly. Fire suppression, security, and the elevator are critical building equipment. Maybe the managers should try hauling luggage and toolboxes up and down four floors a few times a day, including every time they leave and come back. I'm 70 and healthy, but this is ridiculous and shows a lack of initiative in maintaining the place. I'll recommend my company find somewhere else.

The rooms were spacious and clean, with a reasonably stocked kitchenette, a full-size fridge, microwave, and two-burner hot plate. The beds were comfortable, including the pullout couch our teen slept on. Breakfast was the usual hot spread, with eggs, sausage, a waffle maker, and so on. There wasn't shampoo or conditioner, just a bar of soap. The pink-haired front desk employee said we could check out late, then at the normal time told us we had ten minutes to leave. Packing up a whole family that quickly was unreasonable, and she didn't seem to care. The woman who checked us in was very nice, as were the kitchen staff and maids, which is why I gave service three stars.
