Travelodge by Wyndham Vallejo / I-80

The room smelled awful, the toilets were disgusting, and it was obvious nobody had taken care to clean between guests. I was there only ten minutes before finding blood and hair on the bed comforter and sheets, with stains on the other bed covers too. Two of the four beds put me off so badly I couldn't bring myself to check under the comforters and pillows on the rest. After a long drive, I expected a clean room. When I asked for a refund, the clerk said I couldn't have one and insisted I wait for housekeeping to clean what should already have been cleaned. The neighborhood felt sketchy, and I saw too much going on in a short time. Parking was a joke too, the clerk had us use the fire lane. Honestly, find somewhere else. I never review places, but this was ridiculous and upsetting.

The motel sits near busy intersections, so there was a lot of street noise, and it's not in the best part of town. There were only 12 spots in front; after that, we had to park on the street in a rough neighborhood. The manager keeps the main office locked all day and night, which made getting morning coffee difficult because you had to wait for him to get up. There's no coffee maker in the room, though it does have a mini fridge and microwave. The room was clean and newly remodeled, with a comfortable bed, but only three pillows for a king. The towels were so stiff and rough that they cut my skin in several places the first time I used them. The shower had no water pressure, and neither it nor the sink ever got properly hot.

There were holes in the walls, food rubbish left by previous guests, and a cockroach crawled from the ceiling onto the bed frame. The room was unclean and unsafe, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or to a family. Checking the bathroom, I found a small swarm of fruit flies, a broken toilet seat, and a shower floor that was falling apart. The pillows felt like rags in their cases, smelled odd, and the sheets were stained. The room was supposed to include towels, a microwave, and a fridge, but none were there. When we asked, we were told homeless people had been allowed into the rooms and stolen everything.

For a last-minute place to sleep, it wasn't terrible. The room was small but clean, and the bed was comfortable, though it only had two small pillows. There was a fridge and microwave. Breakfast was free, but just warm, packaged hard-boiled eggs and packaged Danish. There was a lot of police activity on the street. Checkout was at 11, and they were knocking on the door, telling us we had five minutes to leave.
