Motel 6 Vallejo, CA - Six Flags West

I've stayed at this Motel 6 for a while. For a Motel 6, the rooms are better than you might expect. They don't smell or have that run-down hotel feel, and they're decent for the price. Housekeeping is nice, too. Yasmine at the front desk is always helpful and makes me feel welcome. Ask for her when you check in, she'll get you right.

I travel a lot, and Motel 6 Vallejo – Six Flags West was unlike anywhere I've stayed. There was a cannabis smell in the parking lot when I arrived, loud music, and people hanging around and partying outside their rooms in the middle of the day. Check-in was behind bulletproof glass, which didn't feel reassuring. Inside, a sign on the door advised guests to keep it locked at night for their own safety. I'd booked two nights but couldn't manage more than one. I barely slept with the constant noise, yelling, music, and cars screeching into the lot. I felt like I was in a bad neighborhood, and in the middle of the night I booked another nearby hotel so I could rest. The next morning I went to check out early. The woman at the desk was the rudest hotel employee I've met in the U.S. She didn't listen, showed no interest, and cut me off with a cold “No refund.” I hadn't even expected a refund, but the lack of courtesy shocked me. After I got back to Germany, I emailed Motel 6 about it. Four weeks and a follow-up later, there was still no response. This was my last stay at any Motel 6. I'd strongly advise people to avoid Motel 6 Vallejo – Six Flags West.

The rooms are small and worn, though clean, and the beds are very uncomfortable. The walls are so thin you hear everything. I needed to get up early, but the neighbors partied all night, and there's a shared door between the rooms. I called the front desk three times and eventually gave up. The staff did try their best, but I'd recommend staying elsewhere. Light and smoke from the property also come in around the doors. You really do get what you pay for here, and I wouldn't stay again.

Shalom, I needed a room at the last minute for work and was glad one was available. But the bath was stained enough that I didn't want to shower. There are ways to get those marks off, or they could repaint, resurface, or reglaze the tub. They should have done that.
