Holiday Inn Vallejo-napa Valley Gateway

The pool was one of the best parts after a long day out. It was clean, a good size, and a nice place to relax. The property seemed well kept, and the rooms were comfortable for crashing and recharging. We had good interactions with both staff and other guests, and everyone was friendly, which made the stay more welcoming. Courtyard by Marriott Vallejo Napa Valley is literally across the street from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, so it's very convenient if you're going to the park. We had a great experience, and it's a solid hotel option in the area.

The rooms were very clean and the staff were great, but management is charging full price while the hotel is being renovated and barely offers what the website promises or what you'd expect from a typical Marriott. There's no breakfast or food on site, no way to get hot water except the in-room coffee pots, which haven't been cleaned in five years, no ice machines, and not even wifi. The building also feels old and like it's falling apart. The elevator drops the last few inches instead of stopping normally, our toilet paper holder was completely broken, and the door locks are failing. We got locked out of our room twice, among several other problems that show the building's age. I can't say if it was an anomaly, but during both nights of our stay there were fights or some other kind of altercation in the parking lot, and the area didn't feel very safe. I wouldn't mind so much if the price were like a rundown budget hotel. Instead, it's priced like a typical Marriott and is one of the more expensive places in the area. You're not getting what you pay for. I'd only stay here if being across the street from Six Flags is worth it to you.

It's an older Marriott, but clean and with good service. The prices are very reasonable, especially for an older hotel. I was staying close to family; otherwise, I might have chosen a newer place with better bathroom lighting and grab bars in the shower. In the cold, very rainy middle of February, the dated heater and air system made it hard to keep a steady temperature.

Off-season, this place is quiet and clean, feels safe, and gives me easy access to the Bay Area while still letting me get out to Sacramento and the mountains. I'm here fairly often when I'm in the Napa Valley area. I can't comment on how it is when the amusement park kids are around.
