Juniper Hill Inn

My daughter loved the indoor and outdoor pools, and we had a fabulous stay. Swimming outside at the end of September was great. The welcome drinks, location, and price were all a plus, and our room was comfortable and very clean. Town is a five-minute walk away, with delicious restaurants right across the street. There were two things that bothered us. We could hear a lot of walking noise from the room above. Also, after checkout at 11 a.m., we planned to spend the day in town, and my daughter wanted one last swim before we left. We were disappointed that we couldn’t use the facilities after checking out. Most hotels I’ve stayed at let you do that, and since you pay for two nights without getting a full 48 hours, it would’ve been nice to use the pool. Otherwise, no problems, and we’d stay again.

We’ve been staying here for a few years. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, the rooms spotless with great amenities, and the grounds picturesque.

We’ve had another great visit to Juniper Hill. The rooms were clean, nicely appointed, and close to everything. We’ll be back to stay and walk to the beach, avoiding those exorbitant parking prices.

Stay away. After our second day, we found black mold in the corners of our room, above the bed, and in the bathroom. Our son’s room had the same problem, as did the room next door. I reported it, but the staff didn’t seem alarmed. They offered to move us, but we suspected the whole place had mold. They bleached parts of the ceiling, not all of the affected areas, which only hides the underlying problem. The rooms smelled musty, and we decided to leave the “motel” for somewhere else. They blamed housekeeping for not keeping up with bleaching, but it seems there’s a leak somewhere that needs fixing. We asked for a refund and they refused to refund the nights we’d already stayed, though they did refund the remaining nights of our stay. Our son had spent one night in his room, left for a wedding, and planned to come back for two more nights. Because his room also had mold, he wouldn’t stay there again. We didn’t check him back in when we checked out, but they still kept one night’s deposit for the two nights. Staff were rude when we asked for the money back and didn’t seem concerned. The manager never came to our room after we told them about the mold. They should refund us. We’ll report this to the health department. This is an old, overpriced motel, not an “Inn.” The ceilings are “paper thin,” and footsteps upstairs sound like stomping. It kept us up at night and woke us in the morning. We moved to the Auberge on the Cove and couldn’t be happier. It was a day and night difference. Don’t waste your money or risk your health. 10-22-25 UPDATE: The owner’s response is false. They didn’t refund us or offer my son an upgrade. We paid a one-night deposit, and they kept it even though he didn’t check back in. That was a rip-off. We wanted out of that motel. Rooms #108, 109, and 110 all had mold. If three rooms have it, there’s probably mold elsewhere. For anyone staying there, especially people with respiratory issues, this is dangerous.
