Marginal Way House Hotel

The views are gorgeous, but there’s nowhere comfortable on the property to sit and enjoy them. We used to bring our family here when visiting OGT, and my grandparents came back when the inn still felt special. They’d be sad to see its current rundown condition. We stayed in late June 2025 and I waited a month to write this. What was meant to be a four-night visit became just two nights, fortunately. It now feels like a basic, uncomfortable inn without frills. Even the office manager said she misses how it used to be and acknowledged its condition. I hope someone who cares buys the place and looks after it the way it once was.

Walking the Marginal Way to Perkins Cove was a highlight every day, and the house sits right by the water with beautiful views. We started our honeymoon at Marginal Way House, and it felt like stepping into a movie about a quiet beach town. The building itself was stunning, and everything looked beautiful. Our room was comfortable, lovely, and well-equipped. We had coffee on the porch while watching the tide come in. The service was attentive and friendly without hovering. We can’t wait to come back.

Room 115 in the main house was exceptionally clean, and the grounds looked beautiful. We’ve been visiting OGT for 25 years and have stayed in lots of places, but this was our first time at Marginal Way House. Check-in and checkout both went smoothly. They serve coffee on the porch every morning from 730am, and still provide daily room cleaning, which is hard to find after covid. We’ll definitely return.

The only thing I’d add is a remote for opening the blinds in the morning. The Dock House rooms are cozy, with comfortable beds, a lovely bathroom, and heat and A/C that are easy to use. We’ve stayed here several times, and watching the tide come and go right outside the window and beneath the balcony never gets old. It’s a perfect place to sit, take in the sea air, and enjoy the view from the balcony or even from bed. Shore Road, Main Street, and the bridge to the beach are all a very short walk away. Such a gem.
