Hampton Inn Okeechobee - Lake Okeechobee

The room was comfortable, clean, and in a handy spot near lots of things. The furnishings weren't especially new, but the bed felt good and the air conditioner worked great. Staff were friendly and helpful when I checked in and again at checkout. I'd stay here again if I'm in the area.

The desk employee was wonderful and apologized repeatedly, but the room was in such bad shape that we checked out right away. When we pulled back the covers, we found dirty socks in the bed, and it looked like the sheets had only been tucked in again after the last guest. There also appeared to be blood on the bedskirt. The dresser was broken, the lighting was very dim, and the carpets were dingy in this dated hotel. We arrived late and were exhausted, so this was especially disappointing as Hilton Honors members who usually love Hilton. The gentleman at the desk was great, but this hotel needs help.

A young man from housekeeping really stood out during my stay. He was polite, worked hard, and went out of his way to carry my bags to the room. He also kept checking that everything in my room stayed in good shape. I was impressed, and it's nice to see the younger generation taught good manners.

Robert on the evening shift was an absolute delight. Most of the other staff seemed too busy chatting with each other or looking at their phones to acknowledge guests. The hotel feels worn and badly needs an update. The room furniture and breakfast area have lots of chips and damage, and the cereal seemed incredibly old. The fruit looked old too. Breakfast could be much better, even though the food is mostly the same as at other Hamptons, and I don't know why the coffee is so acidic that it's barely drinkable. I travel quite a bit and have higher Hilton status, so I thought I might get an upgrade. The hotel was half empty, but somehow there wasn't room for one.
