Staybridge Suites Lansing - Okemos by IHG

This used to be my go-to hotel for work, but the maintenance and service got so bad that this was one of my three worst hotel or Airbnb experiences. I was there for a month, working nights and sleeping during the day. The beds were comfortable, the soundproofing between units wasn’t the worst, and the place was reasonably clean, which is why I gave it two stars. The thermostat was set to 70F, but twice I woke up to the heat running and the room at 80F. I told the staff when I’d be away for a day so maintenance could fix it. When I got back, the room was 95F and I couldn’t turn the heat off. The desk suggested opening a window, but it was blocked from opening further, and it was 0F outside. I had to use my work tools to temporarily sort it out myself. Later, I found a note saying they’d fixed it and checked three times, with the temperature fine. The thermostat was off the wall and the HVAC was off. My space heater was what had kept the temperature “good.” They offered another room later, and the front desk kindly called around noon while I was asleep. I left my phone with them and declined to switch rooms in what was the middle of the night for me. The new room was okay for a while, then a thumping noise from the ceiling woke me up. I was on the top floor, and it sounded like a motor bearing was going bad. It drowned out my white noise fan and rattled the light fixture outside the room, so I slept on the very uncomfortable pullout bed instead. After my shift, I went to shower and there was no hot water. The desk suggested waiting 10-15 minutes because “sometimes it runs out.” This is a hotel, not your in-laws. They offered to move me to a downgraded room, which I declined, and then I woke up to find there was no water at all. It wasn’t just my room, it was the whole hotel. The power in my room had also gone out for a few hours while I was at work. I spoke with the manager twice about the HVAC and water issues and was only offered some points.
