Best Western Plus Saddleback Inn & Conference Center

Breakfast was the standout for me. I stay in hotels around 300 nights a year, and this had the best spread I've had: scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, plus muffins, oatmeal, cereal, and probably more I missed. There's also a restaurant and bar on site. Check-in was quick, with the key cards and room ready when I arrived. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, especially the pillow. My only gripe was dinner: the steak portion was smaller than I expected for the price, and although we ordered it medium, it arrived well done. Still a great stay, and I'll come back when I'm in the area.

The room was decent overall, though I'd have liked a firmer mattress. Breakfast was very good, and the morning staff at the counter and in the breakfast area were great. The surrounding area gave me some concern because there were quite a few homeless people about a block away.

I don't recommend this place. The neighborhood is one where I wouldn't want to bring anyone, and I wouldn't go out at night. We felt misled by the advertising, and the photos definitely aren't of this hotel. It seems these hotels are for homeless people or vagabonds, and the rest of us were suckered in. I had to cancel my reservation after two days because groups were there for two weeks, and they're still there. A manager's reply claimed the groups were only there for two days, which multiple staff had contradicted. Yes, they were first responders, but that has nothing to do with the noise. There were at least three groups. I won't name them because I respect bikers, having been one myself. The manager's reply also claimed they were bikers, which is another lie. The hotel is gross, and I don't appreciate being lied to. The photos aren't even the same. Do not recommend. Check the other comments, they describe the same issues.

Breakfast ran out of food, staff were short-handed and unaccommodating, and the hot tub was broken. There was no hot water, the toilets wouldn't flush, hair dryers were taped together, and electrical outlets had no faceplates. I wouldn't recommend it.
