The staff's kind hearts, along with fresh cookies and popcorn in the lobby, were the main reasons this place was okay. The coffee shop, Mexican restaurant, and burger place nearby were good and within walking distance. But the hotel has gone downhill since I was here about three years ago, and the new owner seems to be running it into the ground. The elevator has reportedly been broken for over a year, with equipment sitting outside it, and I helped an elderly woman carry her bags up the stairs. I can only imagine how busy the first-floor rooms must be with that extra demand. In our room, the toilet seat was broken, the bathroom tile was uneven, and the bottom of the door caught on it. The body wash and conditioner were empty when we arrived, but you only discover that once you're soaked. I saw only one person looking after rooms, so cleaning staff seemed limited. The stairwells smelled of chemicals, one like fertilizer and the other like bleach. The pool has been closed on all three visits I've made. Breakfast was a joke. The waffle maker didn't work for two of our three days, there were no eggs one day, and the microwave bacon wasn't great. I'm not sure there was a toaster, and the microwave was off or unplugged, so the oatmeal couldn't be cooked.

Malik was great and really helpful. The stay was good overall, though the hotel is definitely dated and the elevator still doesn't work. Don't count on early service: the night auditor on Saturday and Sunday was asleep and had to be woken by staff or customers shouting.

Breakfast was the last straw: 40 minutes before service was supposed to end, there wasn't any food left, not even cereal or coffee. We ended up spending $40 at the smoothie shop next door. We also had to go downstairs several times for extra bedding, towels, Kleenex, and body wash. The elevators are out, which wasn't a huge deal for us by itself, but it seems to make it harder for staff to clean and restock rooms. We stayed here last year and thought it was great, but this time we won't be back.

My wife had to stay behind with our kids, who were playing in a tournament, while I drove her grandmother almost two hours home late at night. Her grandmother is over 70, had one knee replaced less than two months ago and the other less than eight months ago, and couldn't manage the stairs. She was also too embarrassed to have the fire department carry her. We only stayed because there were no other rooms within 20 miles, and I think we should be refunded or compensated for what happened. If they'd told us when we booked that the elevator was broken, we'd have had time to book elsewhere. The desk staff said the elevator had been out for three months, but I wasn't told until after check-in, when I asked how to get to our room. They wouldn't move us from the third floor to the first, even though that was what we needed. The only working ice machine was on the first floor, they said, and the others were broken. They were out of towels too. When I asked for two more, they said they'd put some in the wash, but it was so late that they never arrived, and I dried off with one of my kids' towels. Then my wife found a blood stain in the middle of the side of the bed where someone would sleep. This was an absolutely horrific stay.

At 1 a.m. I woke to water running, and found it pouring out of the shower's light fixture from someone upstairs taking a shower. I told the front desk I hadn't slept and explained why. At 10 a.m. she said to have a good night and seemed not to care. I later put all four problems in my email survey: water coming through an electrical fixture, no elevator, loud hallways, and little food or coffee. The reply just apologized that there was hardly any food. I guess they weren't concerned about the shower light and the risk of getting electrocuted while showering at the same time as the room above you. The elevator was already out when we arrived and had been for a while. Three teams were staying there, so I understand some noise was beyond the hotel's control, but the halls were loud at all hours. There was barely any food and no coffee in the kitchen. I never saw anyone working to keep it stocked.
