We were pleased with the room for the price. It was clean and in very good condition, with just a little dust on one bathroom baseboard. The inside looks much nicer than the outside, and it seems to have been remodeled fairly recently. I wasn’t expecting a mini-fridge and microwave, so those were a nice surprise. The air conditioning worked, though it took a while to cool the room. The area is noisy, but we stayed in a room off the courtyard and didn’t hear it inside; rooms facing outward might be louder. One staff member laughed when I asked whether the pool would be open during our stay. It isn’t advertised as an amenity, but it is there. My impression is that it’s been out of service for a while and probably won’t reopen soon. The toilet paper wasn’t as soft as ours at home, though it was better than many public restrooms.
The location is good and, apart from one employee, the staff were mostly polite and helpful. The owner was helpful too, and Vanessa made both check-in and checkout easy. Regina was very rude when I went to extend my stay because of a booking error. She called around 10:15 to 10:30 in the morning to say checkout time had arrived, even though it wasn’t until 11. At the office she demanded my ID. I was willing to show it, but didn’t know why it was needed until the owner and corporate explained. I tried to tell Regina I needed a key so I could go get my ID, but she said there were three other hotels nearby and that she wanted me to check out instead. I called corporate three times. The first man was kind and helped me build my case. The second was snappy and told me to leave before I had a bad day. When I asked for a supervisor, I was sent to escalations. That woman helped sort things out and stayed on the phone while I spoke with the owner and manager. They said they wanted peace, apologized, and explained why they needed my ID. They made me a key, I got my ID, and then they checked me in. I don’t know what Regina’s problem was that day, and that’s not my concern, but I didn’t appreciate how she treated me, especially as a veteran. Motel 6 Bricktown is a good hotel in a good location, but I wish Regina had been kinder. Four out of five for the hotel, one out of five for that employee.
Solo travelers and people with children, beware. I found a two-way mirror in the second room they gave me, the brown one in the middle of the room, not the main bathroom mirror. I don’t know why anyone would spy on guests except to be creepy. There were bed bugs too. In the first room, the door wasn’t sealed properly, a roach appeared right away, and bugs kept getting in under the unsealed door. A few hours later, bed bugs crawled up from behind the mattress. Both rooms were dirty, with other people’s hair on the bed and towels and dog hair in the tub. Sketchy people kept seeming to follow me toward my room, and even the maintenance workers creeped me out.
The front desk woman was very polite, but I didn’t feel safe at all. There was traffic all night, people yelling as they walked past the doors, and the room phone rang about every hour. We’d answer, and nobody said anything. We were booked for four nights, but packed up after the first one and left at 7 a.m. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially for a family or a woman traveling alone. It deserved zero stars.
The main problems were that the pool wasn’t working and the room we got had no microwave or fridge, even though we’d specifically booked because it was supposed to have both. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were clean, and the beds were comfortable enough for the night. The hotel seemed pretty quiet, with easy freeway access. The woman at the desk was friendly and got us checked in quickly, though we waited about five minutes outside for someone to return to the office.
