SAMIR Stay at NW Expressway

The room furniture and bedding were stained and dirty, and when I got into bed, several bugs came out from under the pillows. I was shocked. The building's outside looked good, but the interior is extremely old, outdated, and poorly maintained. Service was generally adequate. Breakfast was continental at best, so don't expect much. I travel often and stay with many brands. This was the first hotel to charge me $10 an hour for late checkout. I agreed to pay for two extra hours and leave at 1 p.m., under the policy that says “$10/hour or after 2 PM a charge for another night.” I paid as agreed, but the front desk attendant was incredibly rude about it. I don't recommend this place.

The rate was as advertised, unlike similar hotels across town, and the room was clean and had everything it should. I don't know why it's listed at only 2.5 stars. It was a little hard to find, so bring your phone to GPS your way to somewhere to eat. Good rates and clean rooms, so I'd recommend it. That's why it's four stars instead of five.

There were bedbugs, and the management and customer service were very poor. My six-year-old daughter had been bitten badly, though at first we didn't know what was biting her. Then we found one crawling on the bed where she was sleeping. I picked it up with a paper towel and showed the overnight desk agent, who told me to wait for the manager to arrive at 7. After that, we saw four more. I brought them to the manager, who said the room had been checked and nothing was found. I showed him the dead bug and videos. Don't waste your money, these are nasty slumlords.

The heater didn't work, and when I took my shoes off to relax, my socks got wet from the moldy, damp carpet. The smell of urine was awful. At the front desk, a very rude woman introduced herself as “Samir,” the owner. When I tried to check out as early as possible the next morning, the man at the desk also claimed to be “Samir,” the owner. Very shady. Stay away from Samir Hotel, you've been warned.
