Days Inn by Wyndham Okmulgee

I drove five hours from Texas to Okmulgee for business and booked a room at Days Inn at the last minute. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but the friendly front desk and easy check-in helped. It was nearly 100° outside, and though the room started out warm, the A.C. cooled it quickly and kept it cold. The room was clean, pest-free, and quiet despite the many guests. The bed was comfortable, and the bath/shower tub, wall surround, toilet, tile floor, sink, and cabinet all looked recently updated. Everything I needed was within four minutes, including clothes, food, coffee, gas, a convenience store, and a supermarket. Checkout was quick and friendly. My only gripe is that the maid should clean the bathroom’s overhead vent fan. I’d still recommend this Inn.

I was a little nervous because it’s Okmulgee, but I left without a single complaint. The room was very clean and worth the price. The gentleman running the hotel was polite, helpful, and a genuinely good person.

We ended up leaving and hope we can get a refund. The room was horrifying: cotton balls, bandages, rubbish, and food were all over the floor and tables, and the bed had no sheets or pillows. We told the front desk it needed cleaning. They said it would be done by that night and that we’d checked in “too early.” When we came back much later, the room hadn’t been touched. Service was poor, and the parking lot was dirty and felt scary. There was also a disgusting pool out front. Okmulgee already feels sketchy, and this hotel was no exception.

The man working there was extremely nice, and when the waffle mix ran out at breakfast, he made fresh batter and waffles for us. The breakfast selection was pretty limited otherwise. A few friends and I stayed for a couple of nights for a local event. The place had a strange feel, and the “pool” wasn’t open. It looked like about a quarter of it was filled with sewage. The smell of Marijuana was strong whenever I went to my room, which was supposed to be smoke free but smelled like an ashtray. The beds were rock hard, and getting the TV to work took a lot of fiddling because its settings were all messed up.
