Comfort Inn & Suites Olathe - Kansas City

I’m unhappy with how this went. They charged me more than my booking price, and it took two days for them to figure out who hit my car in the parking lot. Then I had to drive back to Minnesota in very bad weather. I asked if they’d give me a free night for the trouble, but all they offered was a discount. The amount was about the same as what I paid for the 3 nights I’d stayed, so that wasn’t a discount. I made it home by the grace of God after driving over 12 hours in whiteout conditions. I couldn’t tell whether I was even on the road. I got home at 12:15 am Monday morning. Next time I visit family, I’ll look for somewhere else to stay.

We booked for October 19-21 but arrived on the 20th, intending to stay the final night. Sunny, the night clerk, said we couldn’t stay because we hadn’t checked in on the 19th and that the booking had been canceled. He said there’d be no refund and we’d have to book and pay for another night. We tried explaining that we’d paid for two nights but could only stay one because we didn’t arrive until that day. Sunny then yelled at my mother, repeatedly interrupting her as we tried to explain that this felt like fraudulent activity. I called corporate support and spoke with Christiana. She said that if hotel policy didn’t allow it, they couldn’t refund us or let us stay the night we had paid for. She heard the “mama Farr” yelling at my mother, apologized for his behavior, documented it, and said they’d speak with the manager. Sunny told my mother, “You don’t understand how hotels work. I have worked for many hotels, they all don’t let you check in late if you booked for multiple days…” He said we’d need to rebook. We said we didn’t want to stay anymore, and his behavior had been unacceptable and rude. Sunny went on his phone and spoke with someone, then told us both nights had been refunded and we could rebook. We declined and said we’d warn others to be cautious about staying here. We haven’t seen the refund, and he wouldn’t give us proof of it.

Kiran and Sunil were hardworking and supportive, and the entire staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. The place itself was clean and neat, with good amenities. I had a comfortable, hassle-free stay and would definitely recommend it.

The bathroom vent fan was the one drawback. It made a lot of noise every time I switched it on. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was perfect, and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was very good and had lots to choose from.
