The owners are welcoming, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. I’ve stayed here probably five times now and don’t stay anywhere else in Old Forge.

The place is always clean and family-friendly, and the owners have been accommodating to me and to guests I’ve recommended. Being within walking distance of town, the snowmobile trails, and the lakes is a huge bonus. I’ve always enjoyed Pine Knoll Lodge and Cabins.

You can watch fireworks from the dock, and the owner even chatted with me while we watched. They handed out cookies and brownies while everyone waited for the show. What kind of place does that? This place. I’ll need to book again in the fall. It’s a great spot for sunrise or just watching the world go by. The rooms are cute and actually have a kitchenette, which I wish more hotels and lodges had. The beach and TOBIE trail 🚲 are within a quarter mile, and a one mile walk gets you to almost everything else, including water slides, ice cream 🍦, and coffee at the far end.

Vickie, the owner, is a gem. She’s friendly and helpful, and I’d recommend calling the hotel directly to talk through the room types and get some local tips about Old Forge. Booking that way may not be as instant or seamless as using a third party, but it’s worth the call. Our double queen room with balcony was a good size, with a table and chairs we could actually use for breakfast and a secure balcony. The kitchenette was basic but well supplied. The room was immaculately clean, well maintained, and didn’t have the musty smell common in waterfront places. I even used the shower gel because it smelled good. The decor had a nice woodsy feel. The location is hard to beat: right on the lake, away from the main drag, and within walking distance of most of town. We visited during the April 2024 eclipse, normally a quiet period when many local hotels and restaurants are closed, and didn’t do any outdoor activities. If you have mobility issues, all the stairs could make this a poor fit.

We’re here for Fourth of July weekend, and it’s a perfect spot for fireworks with everything within walking distance. The rooms are clean, with a cabin feel to the decor, and the welcome basket is a nice touch. Such an amazing place, and the owner is very nice.
