Sun Outdoors Mystic

The campsites are spacious, but seasonal guests are allowed to keep box storage trailers on their individual sites. For two months, the view from our RV window was the side of a large trailer parked about two or three feet away. There aren't many planned activities at the campground.

The location was perfect, and the place felt safe. The pool was nice, the laundry room decent, and there's a pleasant little pond. There were lots of amenities, and we caught a live band while we were there. The dump station is available, though I'm not sure whether there are full-hookup sites. Sites are big for an RV park, with picnic tables, fire pits, and some shade. They're mostly grass with some gravel and are somewhat level. The water pressure is a bit high. The sites could use some updating, but everything worked as it should. Most kids don't follow the posted pool rules, though that's on their parents. It was a little pricey.

The campsite was quiet and private, and the woman at the office was nice and offered good customer service. But our site was muddy when my wife and I arrived on Monday, 5/26/25. After the camper slipped off its block, I had a problem with the front jack and asked whether they had a tractor to help. They said they couldn't assist because of liability. Three days in, I asked about having the gray water pumped out and was quoted $30. I declined and told the nice woman I was disappointed with the trip so far. She offered to arrange it for free, which was great, but it never happened. When I asked again that afternoon, she thought it had been done. Then corporate called and quoted $20. I declined and told them I was disappointed too. On top of that, the site was badly infested with ticks. We removed 73 from my dogs, my wife, and me. I know ticks are bad this year, but I wonder whether a campground can do anything to reduce them. I'm not sure I'll return, and I wouldn't recommend it.

There aren't sewer hookups at the sites, but there are two dump stations. Expect a short wait to dump when checking out after a long weekend. Water connections sit between sites, which is a little inconvenient but manageable. The RV sites are large and have 30/50 amp service. The campground was well kept and quiet, with reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff, and nearby Mystic attractions. There are good places to eat close by, including the mystic diner.
