Biarritz Motel & Suites

We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. The place is always tidy and clean, and Ron and June are wonderful. This was our third visit with our son, who's now three, and we're already looking forward to coming back next summer. We were having such a good time that we asked about adding another night, and the owners were happy to accommodate us.

The room was in great shape, and having a table and chairs just outside was a nice touch. The in-room jacuzzi worked amazingly well, and the beach is an easy walk away. This was our first stay here, and the welcome was great. I called from the road from NY to let them know when we'd arrive; the woman I spoke with was very kind and said the room was ready. When we got there, they explained everything and mentioned the WiFi might be slow while it was being worked on, though we haven't had any internet trouble. Even with the RR tracks nearby, it hasn't bothered us since the trains come through during the day. I'd definitely recommend this place. Thanks for the hospitality.

The outdoor pool was well cared for, and the location is great. The motel is family owned and the staff were extremely pleasant, so I really wanted to love it. But once we checked in, the room was a letdown. The linens didn't match, the carpet was filthy, and the appliances were worn out. The air conditioner looked at least 25 years old and had no life left. The kitchen hot-water faucet was broken, and the mattresses and pillows had stains that looked like bodily fluids from years of use. At $200 a night, I expected a decent room. Whenever my two toddler boys went to sit on the floor, I cringed and hurried to put a blanket down for them. I was generous with two stars because of the pool.

The owners are very nice, and our room was clean and comfortable. The shower stall was a little cramped but fine, and the AC kept things nice and cold. It helped mask the train noise, though trains run behind the motels along that side of the main street at all hours. The beach really is about 300 ft away, but the amusement park and pier aren't that close, it was a bit of a walk. This is a good choice if you'd rather be away from the Playland and pier nightlife. If you want to barhop and walk, or stumble, back to your room, look for somewhere nearer.
