Onteora Mountain House

Our family who stayed on site kept saying it felt like a getaway at a family friend’s place. Josh and Dylan have a way of making you feel at home, and they and the staff were easy to be around and available whenever we needed anything, big or small. The property has loads of character and charm while still feeling elevated. We got married there last weekend, and the whole weekend at Onteora felt magical. Calling it a place we recommend for an event hardly covers it. Everything about ours felt perfect.

The food was a huge part of what made our wedding weekend so memorable. The Chef worked in Brazilian favorites we requested, and every appetizer was delicious. The main dishes were some of the best we’ve had at a wedding, and we’ve been to a lot. Josh, Dylan, and the hardworking team also made planning feel easy and enjoyable. I’m a type A bride, with multi-page spreadsheets and totes labeled down to the last tea light placement, and they were patient and understanding through all of it. Once we arrived at Onteora, we felt we could trust the team and let things unfold. Their professionalism, warmth, hospitality, and expertise gave us that confidence. We truly can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. It was an unforgettable weekend and everything we dreamed of, and more.

We brought our families together at Onteora Mountain House, and the on-site house worked perfectly for that. It has numerous beautifully appointed bedrooms, an expansive great room and dining room, plus a game room and exercise room downstairs. The staff were attentive and went beyond what we needed. Thanks to Dylan, Josh, and Zach. The venue exceeded our expectations. The garden patio made a lovely cocktail-hour spot, with so many flowers in bloom. Inside, the glass doors open all the way onto a wraparound deck, and the vaulted ceiling gives the reception area a grand feel. The dance floor was just the right size. Guests also praised the delicious food and generous portions. The mountain views are breathtaking, and the indoor and outdoor areas fit together elegantly. The natural setting also meant we didn’t need to spend much on extras. Trees made a natural altar for the outdoor ceremony, and we put together our own table flowers with greenery, baby’s breath, chamomile, and four little vases.

I photographed a wedding here this past fall. The ceremony view was beautiful, there were several places to get ready, and it’s great that everyone can stay on the property. The staff were also great to work with.
