TownePlace Suites Olympia

We stayed for a week in November 2025 and would happily return. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a king-size bed, little couch, work desk, large storage closets, and a well-equipped kitchenette. It had a fridge, dishwasher, two-burner cooktop, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of dishes, cookware, and cutlery. The bathroom was compact but well designed and functional. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We had been unsure about booking because of past reviews and our earlier experience of the neighborhood, but we had no problems. The area seemed cleaned up, and we felt fine leaving our rental car in the hotel lot. Good value for the money.

I was staying for business with repeated monthly check-ins, usually for a week to ten days, with a week between visits. I consistently followed the payment and ID procedures. After a long workday, with school and activities for my 9-year-old grandchild, we returned to find ourselves locked out and unable to access our room. The front desk had repeatedly called earlier to demand payment before noon, though checkout for the previous night was at noon. I had paid in full by 11 AM, four hours before the new check-in was needed. They had also baited me into paying upfront for a new reservation extending the previous one from the night before. I was then put out on a cold, rainy night with my grandchild. Katherine had overcharged me twice before. The manager researched one charge and corrected it. I was told to report the other to my bank, and I'm still waiting for a callback. I asked for access either to collect my belongings and stay elsewhere or to enter while Katherine waited for an authorization form from my husband, who was ready to complete it by email. She said her manager required a card authorization form because the card was different, even though my husband and I share an address and bank account. I'd provided this form before and was happy to do so again, but she never sent it. They took my money, then told the officer it was only a hold and that payment hadn't come through, even though I showed that the funds had been taken from my account. Katherine had said they ran the card and received payment, but then claimed the proof wasn't in their system. The officer sided with the business, acted as its spokesperson, and didn't try to get a balanced account, despite the evidence I showed him. I only got my belongings back after the police came. I believe I was profiled and targeted because of my ethnic background. I did nothing to deserve being treated this way, and this felt discriminatory and profoundly unethical. The rooms are nice, but the treatment was racist and unprofessional, and this hotel doesn't deserve the Marriott name. I'm disappointed that I now have to spend time writing to the FCC, the WA Attorney General, the Corporation Commission, and others. Throwing a child out into the cold was third-rate and uncaring. I expect and demand a full refund for all my stays at TownePlace Suites Olympia from 9 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. I've already filed a complaint with Marriott about these events.

The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was decent. There's a nice new laundry room too. The staff were incredibly accommodating. I visit Olympia often, and this is now my go-to place when I'm not using an AirBNB.

The place feels outdated, and the AC was leaking. Amenities I requested arrived late or not at all, and housekeeping was just okay at best. I had to log in to the TV for Netflix and other services, and to my phone for internet every day. I had enhanced internet, but YouTube still loaded slowly.
