Old Mill Inn

The location is handy, close to Westroads Mall and several places to eat. The hotel itself was clean, although it’s dark and dated. Unfortunately, our comforter had a big burn hole, and breakfast was cold and only so-so. A basic continental spread might make more sense since nobody seemed to be keeping the area stocked or attended. The pool was closed, though I couldn’t tell if that was temporary or permanent. The in-room hot tub still worked, but its outer base was held together with tape and the on/off switch was unreliable. I had to use the wall reset button to switch it off.

After nine inches of snow, nobody had shoveled the paths or plowed the parking lot, which felt unsafe and careless. The front doors were broken, too, so guests had to slide them open and shut by hand. The pool was closed or out of order during our stay. The breakfast selection was tiny and poorly stocked. Both the room and shared areas seemed dirty, the bathroom had almost no soap, and there were too few towels. It may be an inexpensive hotel, but basic cleanliness, upkeep, and safety still matter. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The service was great, and check-in was quick. While I was getting my room set up, he was already cleaning and mopping the entrance and walkways. The prices were good, too. It’s great to see someone putting this old, historic motel and its location to good use. It felt like a little getaway from home, and I’ll come back.

We weren’t bothered at all after checking in, which made me happy. The room was great, though a couple of things were off. The large jacuzzi still worked, but the side cover was taped on and the inside was scraped up. Finding the place took a little driving around, but Google Maps got us there.
