The room wasn't the issue for me. It was one of the most uncomfortable, unprofessional hotel experiences I've had because of the staff. I calmly told the cleaning lady I'd get the door since my mother was coming, but she kept walking. When she got to my mother, she suddenly had an attitude and said, “I’m 57 years old, I work here, she could have kept that attitude.” I was confused because I hadn't been disrespectful. I said “huh?” to understand what she meant, and she got more confrontational. Then she followed me, which felt really uncomfortable and honestly unsafe. I went to the front desk to ask for a refund and she kept following, smirking while I tried to speak with her supervisor. At one point she told me to “report her on the website,” as if it were a joke. No guest should be harassed, disrespected, or followed like that. It was embarrassing and completely unacceptable, and management needs to address her behavior. After I felt disrespected, she started dancing in the hallway. I honestly wondered if she had mental health issues, maybe bipolar or schizophrenia, but I'm not sure. NEVER again. I wouldn't recommend staying here if this is how guests are treated.

The building smelled mildewed throughout, the tub had actual dirt rings, the end table had cup marks, and the bed linen was stained. I'd never experienced anything like it. After I asked for a different room, they moved me to one that was supposed to be “updated” but was even less clean. I asked for a refund and was told it was 100% non refundable. I was in town for a funeral. The gentleman working alone at the front desk was extremely pleasant, though he seemed overwhelmed. You live and you learn.

After the heavy evening rain, I woke at midnight to find half an inch of water across the floor, from the window all the way to the bed. I don't know how a place can keep its business license with a roof that bad and no repair. Before that, the room had seemed okay and clean, though it badly needed new bedding. The pillows were the worst I've ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom was fine.

The staff were nice, but the room smelled like dog urine and had yellow stains on the wall. It was full of bugs, there were no toiletries or washcloths, and the towels were dingy gray. Red Roof isn't a five-star hotel, so you get what you pay for, but I've stayed at this chain before and it was nowhere near this bad.
