OYO Hotel Opp Al, Floral Hwy

Cockroaches in the bathroom and bed bugs were the last straw. The sheets were unbleached, the toppers faded, and the pillows so flat I couldn't tell if there was one there. We were exhausted and only hoped to sleep a few hours before getting back on the road, but left instead. When we asked for our money back, the manager revealed a hidden sign saying “no refunds 20 minutes after check in.” The place felt nasty, like roadside robbery. The only reason I’m giving one star is that he let us swim after the pool was technically closed; I can’t give zero. Earlier, he seemed friendly and made it sound like we could have a decent, cheap night. After showing us the room, he talked with us for around 20 minutes, asked us to test the toilet flush, and explained that the light switch controlled the microwave power. We tried to overlook the obvious lack of cleanliness and the cobwebs over the bed. We unpacked a little and went for a swim, then had a chance to look around the room once we were back without the manager talking at us. Outside smelled like cat pee, though one cat was friendly. I think there was also a small animal in a lobby cage. The lighting was poor, and I felt the place favored women over men.

I’ve spent two months trying to get a refund and still haven’t got one. The other hotel in town was booked, and now I understand why. This was the nastiest place I’ve ever seen, and I have pictures. They charged me a $15 pet deposit per day, $300 for the week, and I even had to bring my own trash can. I booked through Hotels in America. The company owner will probably come on here, say they’re sorry I had a bad experience, and do nothing. Please don’t, because you’re the problem.

We stayed just one night, and it was awful. I rarely leave reviews, but something has to change here. I know you get what you pay for, but this went beyond that. The room had a lot of problems, especially the bathroom, which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The lack of cleanliness was the worst part.

The bed was clean and comfortable, the owner was welcoming, and check-in was easy. The location worked for us, and we appreciated that pets were accepted for an extra $15. The TV had some cable channels, there was WiFi though I didn't use it, and the pool looked clean. Our stay was just one night and cost less than $80 including the pet fee. The room needs repairs and updates, and some furniture was damaged. There was a roach in the bedside drawer and water on the bathroom floor, though I couldn't tell if it came from the toilet base. We only had one bath towel and one hand towel, plus a small shampoo bottle on the windowsill. It’s an okay place if you're on a tight budget, as long as you don't expect much. With updates, the location could make this a great motel.
