The Richland

We found this wedding venue on Instagram, even though we weren’t local to OC. We emailed to ask about dates and heard back that same business day. During our first week of contact, we toured by FaceTime. We didn’t actually see the place in person until our final walk through, but have no regrets. It looks and feels just like it does online, even better. We had about 140 people and had the best experience working with 24 Carrots Catering, Anna, and Sarah. We stayed at The Richland for the night after our wedding ceremony and reception, so it’ll always mean something to us. Still, I’d definitely stay there again. It’s a cozy, quaint boutique hotel that feels safe, clean, and homey, with reliable modern amenities. The self-serve breakfast bar is simple and delicious. It’s in a prime spot and feels like a sweet little oasis.

It feels like staying at your best friend’s beautiful house. The welcome mocktail in the mini Smeg refrigerator comes with mixing instructions, and there are luxurious towels, toiletries, and bedding. Lots of shops, restaurants, and coffee places are nearby, and Chapman is within walking distance. Absolutely charming accommodations, with the nicest staff to greet you when you arrive!

The cottage was just right for me and my teenager: a standalone house on the property with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We were touring Chapman University and stayed at The Richland. It’s easy to walk to both Old Towne Orange and Chapman, and the staff treated us very nicely. Philz Coffee is just around the corner, which made me happy. The property sits right by some major streets, and the cottage borders the parking lot, so it isn’t exactly serene. We still really liked it.

We’ve celebrated our company service awards at The Richland in December two years in a row, and both times were fantastic. The ballroom is gorgeous, but the food was the highlight for me. I look for gluten-free options, and the GF dishes were thoughtful and flavorful, not an afterthought. They clearly care about the guest experience. Free parking is another big plus, and the charming cable car-style shuttle made getting to the venue easy and fun for our team. A sophisticated Downtown Orange spot with high-end catering and good logistics.
