Tru by Hilton Orangeburg

The kids had fun with the automatic pancake machine at the hot breakfast, and the lady looking after the breakfast bar was especially sweet. Staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. I also loved that there was no carpet for sanitary reasons.

The rooms felt modern, fresh, and clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay at the Orangeburg Tru, and I love Hilton’s Tru offerings. Breakfast was adequate, and it was nice to find grits. I wish Tru would add Hilton’s signature waffle makers, which would make a big difference. I also liked the greener choices in the breakfast area: paper products instead of styrofoam, and a yogurt dispenser so there aren't single-use plastic cups. Real silverware would be better, or at least wooden utensils. For Hilton Club Members' bottled water gifts, I'd skip the non-recyclable bags and just give us the bottles. It would save money on the bags too. All in all, a very nice stay.

Breakfast was lovely and the bed was comfortable, but I couldn't find anywhere in the room to sit comfortably and enjoy my coffee. There were no comfortable chairs. Both window shades were broken, so the parking lot lights shone in all night. The walls were so thin we could hear our neighbors. And remember, the hotel can't guarantee a room without a pet in the room beside you.

The room was newer, very clean, and well maintained, and breakfast was well stocked with a very friendly attendant. I got a warm welcome from De'Shawn when I arrived around 11:30 PM. Compared with many night auditors I've encountered while traveling, he was unusually energetic and upbeat, a real asset to the team. This Tru by Hilton in Orangeburg, SC is what a well-run Hilton limited-service hotel should look like: clean, friendly, and welcoming. I'll be back.
