Days Inn by Wyndham Monticello

The third room was pretty nice, but I was shell shocked by the first two. Room 319 was flooded. In room 309, there was a butt plug under the mattress, the floor had flooded and dried, the box spring was covered with debris and possibly bugs, the furniture was filthy, and the faucet fell apart. Those were my main problems. The front desk staff did everything they could to fix things and eventually solved my issues. What disgusted me was the pet signage: the office door said no pets allowed, while a sign at the front desk said a $50.00 pet fee was required. I’m allergic to pets. I also saw at least two Karen's walking dogs and letting them excrement on the property.

I was stuck there for two nights while traveling with my dogs and waiting for car repairs, so I couldn’t leave the motel. The room was okay, but not clean. The vinyl floor was very dirty, like it hadn’t been mopped in a long time, and I saw a roach disappear behind the headboard. The vending machines didn’t work, and pizza was the only food delivery option. “Breakfast” was sugary cereal, sweet rolls, or sweetened apple juice. There wasn’t anything a diabetic could eat. I wasn’t expecting much, but even a piece of fresh fruit would’ve been nice.

The staff were really nice, but this was the worst Days Inn I’ve stayed in. It wasn’t filthy, though it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. There was a film on the mirror, and the bathroom light was messed up, making the br look very dingy. The coke machine didn’t work, and several guests seemed sketchy. For $89 for the night, it felt more like a $49 hotel. Way overpriced and very disappointing. 😥

The breakfast setup is already limited, but one morning there was no coffee, orange juice, waffle batter, microwaveable omelets, or sausage biscuits. When I told the girl at the desk, she got up reluctantly, muttering the whole time as she slowly restocked. The morning staff seemed glued to their chairs. One had her cell phone in hand, watching videos, and others rolled around on their chairs while checking people in and out. They didn’t get up, though they seemed able to walk fine when it was time to go home. I don’t know if they were physically disabled. We travel for work all the time, and the rooms here are clean and comfortable. The toilet moved and leaked at the base, so we called maintenance. He arrived in about ten minutes, which was great, but only caulked around it, and that lasted until the toilet was used again. No other major complaints about the room.
